» Spotlight on Condition Survey Service
In October 2010 SI was awarded a contract to produce Measured Building and Condition Surveys for London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham (LBH&F) school properties.
The initial challenge was to accommodate the strict deadline of two weeks from receipt of the order. There was a pressing need for the information to be made available in the asset management database as advanced reports and analysis on the schools was required.
LBH&F had an existing Condition partner with who they had worked for several years. The driver to explore SI innovative solution was to ensure best value in these tough economic times was being delivered. After an initial consulting period the decision to carry out a comparison of service was made and the project was split fairly between SI and the current condition supplier, both companies were given the same scope of service and two week timeframe.
SI work programme included:
• Scheduled appointments with every school
• Measured building survey to update the existing CAD drawings
• Complete Condition Survey fully compliant with DfE guidelines
• M&E Survey
• Updated CAD drawing, referenced in line with the DfE space classification guidelines
• Internal & external photographs, hyperlinked to the CAD drawing to support the survey decisions
• High resolution digital aerial photographs of the building roofs and elevations
• On-site synchronisation of all collected data to the LBH&F database application
SI successfully completed the work programme including synchronisation to the database within the two week timeframe and on budget!
LBH&F was hugely impressed with SI’s innovative approach and complimented the service highly with particular reference to efficiency, costs and quality of data and project management. The information supplied is, and will continue to be vital to the success of the overall asset management strategy. SI continues to support LBH&F with their asset management requirements.
