In 2005 London Borough of Hounslow identified a need to have accurate, intelligent data for their educational properties and issued competitive tender inviting companies to bid for their project. Spatial Intelligence was the successful bidder and was commissioned in September of that year to carry out full measured building surveys of seventy-two schools with extra properties being surveyed as building works were completed.
Prior to the surveys taking place Spatial Intelligence consulted with London Borough of Hounslow to identify the exact requirements and specification details for the project. Soon after a meeting of minds the project commenced with a team of six site surveyors being deployed to complete the measured surveys within the timescale agreed depending on building locations and approximate sizes.
In addition to the standard building surveys the contract also included generation of all external site area information, production of ‘data rich’ CAD floor plans, sufficiency surveys, digital photographs of all internal and external areas and loading of all data into the Council’s property management application. Spatial Intelligence also ran a series of seminars to train all Head Teachers on their use of the CAD floor plans and the database.
Spatial Intelligence continues to work closely with London Borough of Hounslow to produce accurate data not only for DfE submissions but also to the benefit of London Borough of Hounslow schools.
London Borough of Hounslow has been one of SI’s most challenging customers to date, with extremely tight requirements on accuracy, CAD file structure and demands on the data. As a result of this SI continues to refine products and procedures to meet these demands thereby increasing the return on investment made in their data.
Continuing this close working relationship with London Borough of Hounslow, Spatial Intelligence intends to keep this property portfolio data to a high level, low maintenance standard.
